1 pound breakfast sausage (crumbled) ¼ cup oil ¼ cup flour 1 pint (warm) whole milk ½ teaspoon salt ½ teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
Brown off sausage. Remove sausage after fully cooked reserving grease. Add enough oil to grease to equal 1/4 cup. With oil hot slowly add flour, whisking until smooth. Gradually add warm milk, whisking constantly until gravy thickens. If necessary for proper consistency, stir in a little more flour or milk. Add salt and black pepper, adjust to taste.
